Malia Mitchell

Malia Mitchell is a freshman majoring in mechanical engineering who attends Howard University in Washington D.C. She intends to utilize her forthcoming degree by developing a career in the aerospace industry, where she plans to work furthering Earth’s collective understanding of space for all. She is a leader who leads through service having experience both within her high school community as President of Black Student Union and an Associated Student Body Representative, as well as outside of her school with organizations like Building Blue Bridges and Legacy Ladies Inc. Currently at Howard University, she serves as a junior residential assistant for one of her universities dormitories and enjoys active involvement on campus through Howard University’s National Society of Black Engineers Junior Chapter. She notes her greatest achievement to date as having graduated from the Summer Math and Science Honors Academy at the University of California, Los Angeles amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, she intends to continue fulfilling leadership roles in college and beyond by helping her community grow and thrive.

Fun Fact: I am a major Lego enthusiast. My favorite projects that I have completed to date are the 10256 Creator Taj Mahal and 21323 Ideas Grand Piano. Currently, I am halfway through constructing the 10276 Creator Expert Colosseum.
