Bethany Long
Patti Grace Smith Fellow, Class of 2025
Tuskegee University, Aerospace Engineering, ‘25
Host Institution: Amazon Kuiper
Bethany Long is a fifth year Aerospace Engineering major from Atlanta, Georgia pursuing a degree at the illustrious Tuskegee University. Bethany is eager for the opportunity to continue and strengthen her engineering and leadership skills within the Patti Grace Smith Fellowship and carry on her endeavors this summer with Amazon Kuiper assisting with the next largest internet constellation.
Apart from engineering, she has completed four full years of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) while leading hundreds of cadets to improve their leadership and followership skills inside and outside military settings. She is also a Spring 2023 initiate of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, a black Greek service organization standing on the principles of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood. Within Zeta, She has hosted a breast cancer walk on campus to spread awareness about women’s health and volunteers at the local assisted living centers to help the seniors of Tuskegee stay active.
To Bethany, it is a true blessing to be able to continue the legacy of Ms. Patti Grace Smith, a Tuskegee native and graduate. Without her efforts, she believes she would not be offered as great as an opportunity to encourage people of color to achieve their highest goals.
