Motivated by her family and her love of astronautics, Emily Burrus is a first-generation college senior pursuing an Aerospace Engineering degree at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. Originally from Long Island, New York, Emily loves a new adventure and is excited to be a Patti Grace Smith Fellow. She is passionate about the design and testing of solutions that will advance the pursuit of human space exploration through sustainable methods. As an active member of her student body, Emily served as a Co-Captain of the New Student Orientation team, where she lead a diverse group of students to successfully represent the university while advocating for an inclusive environment. In this role, she worked alongside other teammates to implement an annual training in diversity, equity and inclusion that is now required for all members. Through her college experience, Emily has maintained her leadership skills in roles that apply directly to her degree and allow her creative passions to ensue. As the Stellar Eagles Marketing Specialist for Embry-Riddle's Office of Prestigious Awards and Fellowships, Emily creates digital media to be shared with all three ERAU campuses while overseeing Student Ambassadors in the program. In her free time, she loves to play electric guitar, listen to music, and experience life with her friends and family. Emily is thrilled to be hosted by Blue Origin this summer and is honored to be part of the 2023 cohort!
